Khephri - 2000 ZX-6R - Commuter Khephri currently has 90,000 miles on him - all stock parts. Never had any problems with him other than the ones I caused. He's been a great bike that I'm definitely getting my money's worth out of. I am looking into getting some engine work done to him soon and replacing some parts that are probably more than past due for replacement. I couldn't have asked for a better all-around, all-purpose bike. This bike has carried luggage for month long trips, a set of rims, set of wheels, forks, etc.. This is my main baby. Yes, my other bikes are prettier, more powerful, whatnot...but this is the bike that has my fondest affections.
Toronado - 2003 ZX636R - Race Bike & Mini-Toro - Blata Replica - Pocketbike Toronado is my official race bike. Mini-Toro is my official pit bike. Aren't they cute together? Of course, that paint job on Toro is long since dead, Mini-Toro remains alone in that paint scheme. I had 2 ZX-636's at one time. Sevruc and Toronado. Both have been totalled quite thoroughly. Sevrus has been totalled once. Toro has been totalled. Rebuilt. Totalled again. He is now awaiting rebuilding. Race bikes are a means to an end. They are race bikes. They go into battle, casualties are to be expected. I'm learning now to not bond with these bikes. They are here to kill others in races or die trying. Currently, all I have is Toro waiting to be rebuilt. I'm working on gathering up a bigger team of race bikes so that if one is temporarily out of commission, I have backups. Sheol is the pretty boy. I cleaned up the garage the other day and felt like decorating it...what better than to decorate with a pretty R1? Sheol may pull some transport duties. He may be the one that takes me to bike nights, canyon runs, etc.. Since all my race bikes were out of commission and I really didn't want to miss my Laguna Seca Trackday with SBR Trackdays 2/8/2005, I took Sheol out. He sure lived up to his rep. I'll have to get him some new rotors and re-torque the front end before expecting him to perform like a real bike again. But this bike is just so pretty I had to make a get a model of him. The second pict up there is NOT a lowered R1 - it's a model R1 that I took apart and painted to match the real Sheol. I even busted out the dremel and shaved off the rearpegs and rear fender. Thumper is the dirt bike I got to better train my riding skills. My first dirt bike, and a bit of a mistake. I'm only 5'4.5. I cannot kickstart the damn thing. Okay, fine - call me a girl. I would like to sell this one and get a dirtbike with an electric start - or just put an electric start on this one. Because I can't kickstart this bike on my own, I have only ridden it twice so far. I can start it after it's warm and all - but trying to kickstart it when it's cold is a big pain. Plus - on a dirt track, it's not that bad - but on trail rides when people stop in sand and up hills...it's impossible for me! I have no shame admitting that this bike really exposes the helpless, girlie, vertically challenged side of me.... While I work on finding a solution for this bike, I'm looking into purchasing an XR100 that I can beat up on. I've been told that those bikes are virtually indestructable. Hmmm...what a concept. That sounds like a challenge to me. |
